I am trying to get my copy of Wordstar 7.0C to print postscript but  find I never copied the printer driver  - driverps.ovr - for postscript dated around about August, 1992.  My disks were 5 1/4"  and I discarded them a couple of year ago, no longer having a drive of that size.  Do you know where I might find the driver?  The larger issue is being able to print to a flle that will allow Acrobat Distiller to make .pdf files (the new pdf, not the WordStar one)!  As a lawyer, courts are beginning to allow or require filings in Acrobat format.  My WordStar paper documents are no longer sufficient.  I find that even with Mike's emulator I am faster in and prefer the layout features of WordStar for DOS.  Thanks for your help.

Hi buz,

Send me a private message with an e-mail address that I can send attachments to. I can send you copies of the postscript drivers. I have versions WS7a and WS7d. I think you should be all right with the WS7d driver. Also, I believe Phil may have a custom driver on his web page at http://www.glinx.com/~grifwood/WordStar.html.

Yours on the keyboard,

An improved PS driver for creation of Acrobat PDFs is on my site.  An improved version is now being tested which will let users add Title, Subject, Keyword information before distilling.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for that. Would you mind posting a download URL to the file when you've finished testing it?

It is tested (under OS/2, Win98SE, WinME using Ghostscript, Acrobat Distiller, and JAWS PDF Creator) and is ready to go.

Thanks Phil!

PS ?the last ?edit showing in your message was me fixing the URL! I've wrapped it in [URL]...[/URL] tags and switched the slashes around. Without this it cut the URL off after your domain name. These tags are available from the icons above the message editing box.

Thanks Mike!

One of the problems of working with OS/2 is that the slashes are auto corrected, so I forget which I should be using.

I wsih to thank deedee for helping me get postscript going with WordStar for DOS.

In the process I discovered two importnat set-up items:  the location of the file "driverps.ovr" must be in the Adobe Acrobat Distiller File setup font file so that Distiller can find and embed the fonts.  Also, WordStar must be set up NOT to fill out the file with ^Zs or Distiller will fail.  Alternatively, the ^D in the .ps file generated by printing to Postscript must be erased.

Best regards.

Distiller does not use, nor need DriverPS.ovr.  WS uses it to generate the PS file.  That file contains AFM font information and Distiller must now where the PFB files are for those fonts.
