WS7d PRINTING PROBLEMS WITH XP (home)

My WS7d, working beautifully with 98se, will not print under XP.  Printer works with everything else, but when I try to print with WS7d, the pages emerge blank.   I'm using an HP5P laserjet.   The closest PDF I could find for it in the WS disks, however, was a driver for the HP3P.  That's the one I've been using and it has always worked fine.  Except with XP.

Any suggestions and solutions will be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi John!

This is the place to ask.  I am not running XP, but here are some things to try.

First, you need a later printer driver.  Go to my Web Space and try the drivers there.  Check back because I am in prep of new releases.

Second, how is the printer connected--LPT or USB.

Three, check the settings for the printer and make sure that all DOS spooling is turned off.  WS has its own spooler.

Fourth, if all else fails (and it should not), you will have to use the Windows printer driver using my Postscript/Ghostscript method.

Phil,

Thanks for responding.  I appreciate it.

Print spooling is off.  The printer is on LPT1.

Went to your site to download drivers and wasn't sure which to select.  You speak about modifying a 5L, but I have a 5P.  Don't know the difference, and when I unzipped the file, there were a lot of ACROBAT files, but I couldn't find a PDF.  Perhaps I messed up and will try again.

Meanwhile, I'll have to table this problem.  I'm leaving in the morning for Montreal to see my daughter and friends I left behind to move back to the States and Durham.  I'll be back somewhere around the 8th of August and, if you don't mind the imposition, I'll try to reconnect with you then.

Again, many thanks.

Hi John!

If it's a 5P then you need a Postscript printer driver.  Try the HP4 from Mike's site.  I should have a PS version of the LaserJet 5 available when you get back.
