It is some years since I last made contact, I've been faithfully plodding
my way through my projects. finished my work on Accrington  Pals and
my other project Greater Accrington Heroes, over 12500 men and women
in my patch who took the Kings Shilling in WW1, then disaster struck,
switched the computer on March 5th, and all the icons had moved, so started shoving
them back to where they should be, that's when it happened as I put the
mouse pointer over WS it vanished, went  to XTGOLD can't find my files any where,
nothing in the dustbin, called in a friend who is supposed to be good at
these things, (he's been chiding me for years for using WS,) he can't find anything
either, said he would have to come back with a forensic program in a couple of days, not
heard from him since. all mi WW1 files were backed up every night, but all my
files on local history, letters, and loads of other files, I'd never backed them
up for years.
Last week after days of searching finally found them on a DVD 8 years old,
copied them back to the other comp, about 98% recovery, but although managed to put an
icon on the desk top,WS won't open says missing Preview ovl. Fontid CL & WSMSG, the
files are there I've seen them, Can't reinstall WS one of the original floppies is faulty,
now I'm stuck.
Its now over 30 years since I installed the original WS, these days I'm having
trouble remembering things from day to day, thankfully its not a virus or anything from the
internet, that computer sits on its own and has never been connected to any other source.
Please help I'm at me wits end, I'm fed up with people saying you daft old
bugger wod you bothering about at your age.
I just tell the there is nothing clever in getting old, but it can be dammed hard coping
