Creating PDF files from WS6 for DOS?

I need to turn several large WS6 files into PDF.  The PDFs need to be exact replicas of the original WS pages, because this is a Ph.D thesis which I have already printed and I need to hand in an identical PDF equivalent.  I therefore cannot use an intermediary platform, such as converting from WS6 to MS Word.  I keep reading that it should be possible to make a postscript printer file from WS6, but I cannot make it work.  In prchange I have installed the Apple lazer postscript printer, but when I select this at the print menu - obviously choosing the "print to file" option - the PC just bleeps and there is no printing.  I can "print to file" from my standard printer, the Brother HL1250, which emulates the HP laser IIId, but can't work out what kind of beast the resulting file is!  Surely it isn't a PST file?  What am I doing wrong with the Apple postscript, and is there a better way of creating PDF from WS6?  Is there a program, like the old Dosfax, which can capture the print image from a WS6 file?  Advice URGENTLY needed, please!

Try using a driver from my web site (www.grifwood.com).  You did not define your original printer but I suspect it was a Laserjet.  If it was use my driver which emulates a HP Laserjet 5.

Thanks, Phil

I did actually mention that my printer is a Brother HL1250 which emulates an HPIIID Lazerjet.  I don't have the WS PC with me where I am right now, so will try your download on the weekend.  Do I use the driver to print to file?  I ask because I have so far installed 4 different postscript printer drivers from the WS menu, and not one of them will print to file.  No idea why.

Hi, Phil

Try as I might, I am unable to find this driver on your website.  Where exactly should I be looking?  Whenever I google this question, I find tons and tons of information about what I can do with Postscript files when I've generated them (using Ghostscript, etc), but no one seems to offer any advice on how I do generate one.  As I said in my previous post, not a single Postscript printer driver which I have installed works.  Until I can create that PST file I am totally stuck.

The page of drivers is here.

The file you want is linked at

The IR400 driver emulates the HP printer and may do what you need.
