Title: Port redirection
Post by: Dan_Zellman on April 27, 2004, 06:22:17 AM
I am running 7d on an XP pro system I would like to use the IR port to communicate with an HP LJ2100m. Using a lazerjet 4 driver all works well on LPT1.  I have configured the IR port as if it were COM2 (2f8 IRQ3 DMA00) and set the port to COM2 in PRCHANGE.  When I try to print, The program says PRINTING but the printer does not respond.  From printer control panel the test print works fine.  Thoughts anyone.

Hi Dan!

My guess would be that WS is looking for a serial printer and is not receiving the information it needs to proceed.  I would suggest printing to file and installing PrintFile which would spool the print data to the printer using the GUI interface.

If you want to try using PrintFile, you can download it from this site: http://www.wordstar.org/wsdos/pages/downloads.htm#PRINTFILE, or from the developer's own site: http://www.lerup.com/printfile/. Full instructions are in the readme file enclosed within the download.
