There's a possible option to change this forum into something more like a mail list, with replies by email. You can already subscribe to message threads, but the mail list option would extend that to subscribe by default.
Any comments for or against? The Yahoo mail list would also stay active.
I like the idea of getting an email notice when my thread or a thread I have been commenting on gets a response. That way, I am alerted to get on and read it.

You can choose to be notified of any topic updates by clicking the Notify button above the topic.
The query was more about after you receive an update notification you need to click a link in the message to take you to the topic to read the update. There is a way to allow you to read the update in the message you get sent, and to add your own comments by replying to the email rather than by visiting the forum to write your own comments.
