Title: Forgotten your login details?
Post by: Forum Admin on March 07, 2010, 10:03:48 PM
If you have forgotten your login password, username, or both, you can follow the simple steps below to recover your username and to reset your password.

On the Forum Home page (http://www.wordstar.org/forums/index.php) there are several login links and forms, two of which have Forgotten Password links:

At the top of the screen you will see a Welcome, Guest. Please login or register message, and slightly below this a Login button, as shown below:

Use either the login link or the Login button to get to the Login form, shown below:

If you've forgotten either your password or login name, click the Forgot your password link. There is a similar link at the bottom of the Forum Home page:

Either of these links will take you to the Password Reminder request form. You can't actually revover your forgotten password, but you will be able to choose a new one:

Enter your username, if you remember it, or the email address you used to sign up to the Forum, and then click Send.

The page will display a confirmation that the pssword reset email has been sent to you.

Check your email for a message titled New password for WordStar Forum. This message will include your username and a link that you will need to click, or copy and paste into the Address bar in your Internet browser - note that the link must be all on one line.

Note: If you don't get the email check your anti-spam folder, then add http://www.wordstar.org (http://www.wordstar.org) to your friends or safe sites list.

The link in the email will take you to a password reset page, where you can type in a new password in the Choose password box. You need to re-enter the password in the Verify password box, and then click Save. This page is shown below:

Following a successful reset of your password you will be taken to a login form with the details already entered for you, click Login to continue to the Forum:

I suggest that after you have successfully logged in, that you log out again, and then from the Forum Home page (http://www.wordstar.org/forums/index.php) you login again. Your Internet browser may then give you the option to save your login details. You can also choose to stay logged in, in the Forum Login form. Obviously these will only work if you use the same computer each time, and you shouldn't choose to do either on a publicly shared computer.

What if you've changed email address since signing up?
In this case, either send an email to the Forum Admin asking for your email address to be updated. You will need to provide your old address and username. Alternatively, create a new account, and then check the members list for your old username and send a private message to the Forum Admin asking for your old account to be deleted. Note, that you cannot create two accounts with the same email address.
