Title: PCL4 MS-DOS Emulation
Post by: Long Time WS User on November 28, 2005, 03:20:39 AM
I have moved over to MS Word, but occasionally need to access my old WS files.

I would like to now use WS 6 on a computer on which is attached a HP LJ3100, which offers PCL4 MS-DOS Emulation.? I have installed DOSPRN so that I would be able to print from WordStar for DOS in the Windows environment.? That only leaves the question of what printer driver should I tell WordStar to use.

What printer driver should I install for WordStar?

The most up to date version of the PCL driver, based on the PCL4 driver, but including support for the Euro is found on my Web site.

First, sorry for the partial post, I am multi tasking and hit the wrong key in the wrong window. Continuing my reply:

This is the driver which I use with my LaserJet 5N attached through a USB Docking Station with my laptop and our networked RICOH Aficio 2045e PCL 6 in our office with both WS7 and WS6.

A look at the HP site suggests that this printer may have a Laserjet colour mode.  Rob Sawyer has created a driver for Laserjet colour.

The site also suggested that this driver may have a colour inkjet setting.  If it does then the Deskjet drivers on my site are the latest.

Thank you for your much more detailed reply.? ?;)

It is strange that an inkjet driver and a laserjet colour driver are available, but not a plain vanilla/black laserjet driver.

I may be wrong, but as between an inkjet driver and a laserjet colour driver, i would suspect that the laserjet colour driver would be slightly clearer.

Could you identify the files I should download from the site you referred me to?

Many thanks for your replies, and your help!

Howard

You will have to look at your printer and see if has multiple roles.  My info was from the HP site and I could not find a clear answer.

The plain PCL black and white drivers PCL drivers and the updated Deskjet drivers are ins this Zip.

I have been meaning to ask Rob to let me post his colour PCL driver and will do so.

Can anybody talk me more about this program DOSPRN?
