Title: Increasing drive access beyond "C"
Post by: dunstall on December 31, 2004, 02:07:26 PM
I am using a DOS version of Wordstar 5'

Currently I am denied access beyond drive "C", on my computer I have drives D, E, and F.where  I have backed up data.

Is there any way that I can modify Wordstar to enable me to access these other drives WHEN USING Wordstar?

Currently, in order to access backed up data, I use windows to copy a file from say drive E to drive C where THEN I can use Wordstar to read or edit it.

If it is possible a more direct method would be simpler.

PLEASE can some one help? It would be much appreciated.

Part of the WSDos installation process is declaration of the drive from which WSDos is run.  I do not run WS5 so cannot tell you for certain which WSChange commands to use, but under Computer there should be a section about drives and folders.

Thank you for your rapid reply. However, there are PROBLEMS.

I have wschange.exe, BUT......... when called up and one enters the "WS" for WordStar, the programme replies, "Can't find the programme"

I also have Winstall.exe, BUT........ I get the same reply.

What do you suggest next ?

Hi,

Do you have a program called WS.EXE? (To start WordStar, do you type WS or something else?) If it's been renamed you'll need to enter the new name here instead of the default.
