I'm doing some research into WordStar/Turbo Pascal for historical fiction and using WordStar 3.3 ... what's odd is when I try to save a document (Ctrl-K, S) and it has any sort of formatting codes (bold, center, etc) the formatting codes are ERASED when the file is saved, and it reverts back to my last save before I do any edits. This happens both in Windows 2000's command prompt, and in a DOSBox shell. So what am I doing wrong? I create the document with a "D" on the opening screen, and give it a name, then do edits. When I Ctrl-K, S it erases any formatting.

I don't know what could be going wrong, but have you checked your settings in wschange. It may be you have inadvertently set WordStar to do that. Also, what's in your autoexec.bat and config.sys -- I believe the early WordStars needed a fcb= (is that it? -- I'll have to look that up) statement in addition to files=, stacks= and so forth.
